Red Eyes

This past weekend I was extremely tired. I am hitting the end of the semester and the amount of paperwork and clinical hours have been increasing. I went to work all night after attending clinical for eight hours during the day. I thought that I was doing a good job of hiding how tired I was, but then I was confronted by a small 6 year-old child. She looked directly at me and said, "You must be tired." I replied, "What makes you think that." She stated, "Your eyes are all red." I suppose that sometimes there is no way to fool people, especially children. They are so observant. The real question was what was this child doing up at 2 a.m. and why was she left out in the waiting room of the ER without her parents?
