Summer semester is coming to a close for me and I am feeling the pressure. I need to have all of my assignments in by the 20th of this months and I am wondering how I am going to accomplish this daunting requirement. I had to rearrange my work schedule to allow me to get all of the hours that I need. It also seems to be that every time that I get busy there are always church callings that need to fulfilled. In the mist of all of this I need to run an activity between my two graveyard shifts. I have a feeling that I am going to be very tired when these two weeks are over.
For all of those who were curious I have not heard back from blind date number 2. I was actually hoping for something, but I think that the problem is that he seemed so normal...and I am just not so normal.
When I read Ann's blog I think about how tedious and unimportant all of the things that I worry about are, but for some reason I can't help it. I suppose that I will just have to pray and hope that everything works out for me the way that it should.

Update

Well, I have been thinking of what to update here about my date and it is difficult because nothing too extraordinary or unusual occurred. He was a gentleman and opened the doors for me, which doesn't happen much for me. In fact, sometimes it makes me a little uncomfortable, but I suppose that means that I need to get used to it and give up my independent stubborn streak. It was also a little different to spend time with someone who is that much taller than me. Yes, I know that Brent is just as tall, but for some reason my date seemed taller. We just went out for dinner, which was good. He is a "health nut" in his words. He was very concerned about eating healthy and exercise, which I decided was a good thing for me. I am always trying to do better, so maybe I could get the to rub off on me a little more. Two disappointment for me were:
1. He can't hike-he has one bad knee from having a femur larger than the other and that causes too much pain.
2. He has never really gotten into camping. He says his father always made camping really rustic. He says his father said things like, "You can go over there and go to the bathroom on that poison ivy over there." On the positive note he thinks that if he did it right that he might like it.
He talked a lot, many times saying things without thinking. That part reminded me a little of me. It made me laugh inside. He told me that he does that a lot and his family thinks of him as the mean one in the family because he says things to them without thinking. Hhhmmm, am I the mean one in the family?
Overall, I think that it went pretty well. I had a good time and I am hopeful for a second date, but I am not getting myself to worked up over it all. I think that I did hear him say that he was going to call me this upcoming week. I don't think that I made that up, so I suppose that I will have to give another update if that happens.

I don't really know what the meat question mark is about. I just thought it was kind of humorous that someone had made a question mark out of meat.

Another Date
Tomorrow night I have another date. For those of you who heard the story of the "tapestry floral planner" may be disappointed to here that the date is not with the same individual. I have once again been set up on a blind date. My friend Jennifer is highly concerned about my single status and is doing her best to help end it. Anyway, she is setting me up with another individual. She tells me that this time the guy is less "nerdy." This date is 6'6". That sounds like a decent height to me. He called me on the phone and was much better at conversations than the last one. We will have to see. I was waiting up to get his phone call...he was confirming the date with me tonight and then my cellphone never rang. I just got a message stating that he was planning to pick me up tomorrow night at 7 pm sharp. Updates to come.

The Cold

The common cold is commonly thought to be more of a winter thing. Unfortunately, in all of my clinical time for school I have come to realize that the time period actually extends into June. How sad is that? I have spent 6 days a week hanging out with sick people and I managed to stay well. I thought that meant that I was invincible. I found out the hard way. This past week as the family went on vacation I hung out with the well people and found out that they made me sick. I am not sure that means that my body is meant to hang out with the ill or that things hibernate until you are no longer exposed to them and then you get sick? Needless to say, I went to my clinical hours yesterday hacking and crying, but today I called in sick to work because I have the chills along with it....and 109 sick hours to use up.

Rotary Dial Phone
Who doesn't love the old rotary dial phone? Not me. I am currently in LOVE with the old phone. We currently have one connected into the kitchen phone jack. The cordless phone was on the fritz. In fact none of the three cordless phones were working to we traded out the phones for the single analog, yet highly functional rotary dial version. The currently problem is that no one can seem to remember that the cord has them attached to one location and there is no wandering or finding items while carrying the phone receiver. There have been many near neck injuries due to these forgetful moments. Although, this phone can be called ol' reliable. We have a couple of new phones that have been purchased to replace this phone, but it will go back into storage so that we can break it out in another emergency....no electricity needed to use this fantastic version. Everyone needs one!
